🌴What is A Trend

A trend is a tokenised X.com #hashtag.

A trend is an ERC-20 token minted to represent a hashtag on social media platforms (X.com for the current SAX release with plans to expand to other platforms) with 10,000 nibs (units of a trend) of total supply and an initial price of $0.01.

Each trend has a Virality Score attached to it, which is derived from the social media platform data to quantify the relative popularity of a trend. A trend that has a Virality Score between 0-1 means that it's underperforming the average of all trends, while a trend with a virality score above 1 means it's outperforming the average of all trends, see more The Virality Co-efficient.

The change in the Virality Score shifts the shape of the bonding curve that determines the price movement of the trend. A more popular trend will have a steeper bonding curve quickening both the upward and downward movement of the price. In the backend, all trends with the same Virality Co-efficient will share the same shape of the bonding curve. For user-friendliness, the front end will only show Virality Scores two digits after the decimal.

Upon launch, the minting of the trends will be centralized with plans to allow anyone to mint any trends as soon as possible. Decentralized minting will be enabled in future versions of the app.
